WOMEN STORIES

Programmer: Arlinka Larissa
Durasi Program: 01:10:00

Programmer’s Note

The short film program “Women Stories” seeks to showcase the works of female filmmakers from various countries, spanning various genres, from experimental to romantic comedy.

Through it, audiences are invited to see and think through a woman’s perspective, while getting acquainted with female characters who hold active roles within narrative as a protagonist. In contrast to the mostly passive representations of women in mainstream cinema, the female characters included in this program are fully responsible for their actions and motivations within narrative, also their consequences.

It is hoped that this program will start a conversation about the importance of women perspectives in cinema, particularly in Indonesia, and the representation of female characters in film.
