WOMEN STORIES Programmer: Arlinka Larissa Programmer’s Note The short film program “Women Stories” seeks to showcase the works of female filmmakers from various countries, spanning various genres, from experimental to romantic comedy. Through it, audiences are invited to see and think through a woman’s perspective, while getting acquainted with female characters who hold active roles within narrative as a protagonist. In contrast to the mostly passive representations of women in mainstream cinema, the female characters included in this program are fully responsible for their actions and motivations within narrative, also their consequences. It is hoped that this program will start a conversation about the importance of women perspectives in cinema, particularly in Indonesia, and the representation of female characters in film. |

All her life she’s lived in a religious environment, starting from kindergarten when she was already enrolled in a Catholic school, until now when she’s studying at Virgin Mary High School. |

AURORA Vera and Ana are two very different women who are also neighbours who have never interacted before. Both live isolated lives, bound by technology and dead relationships. |

Arlinka Larissa graduated from Queensland University of Technology, Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film, TV, and New Media) in 2014. She has written articles about film for several online publications. She also works behind-the-scenes as a translator and assistant producer
