Fluid and smooth, one can view the film over and over again like a painting and find something new each time.

THE SEVEN ABDULKARIMS (Elham Rokni / Israel / 2018 / 22:00)

Jury’s note:

The merging of fiction and reality about the refugee issue in a documentary, animation and experimental blend. a rare approach of the subject in a surreal manner.

SCHOOLYARD BLUES (SKOLSTARTSSORG) (Maria Eriksson-Hecht / Sweden / 2017 / 16:36)

Jury’s note:

The film reflects how schools turned out to be an educative place for only those who are considered to be the best students. there is no place for children like mika who was already considered a bad boy. we believe many people can relate to this delicate film. the film made several juries watched in tears.

Jury’s note:

Watching this film is like taking a long breath, allowing the audience to concentrate with every picture, sound and story conveyed. the tapir symbol becomes a kind of comma in a question sentence about the national boundary in this film.


INTERNATIONAL YOUTH JURY AWARD 2018

It is a touching story that leaves a strong aftertaste to the audience and it is a very well-acted representation of strong bonds between two young brothers that are dealing with cold and harsh situations in life.

KIMCHI (Jackson Segars / United States / 2018 / 14:28)

Jury’s note:

In the midst of increasing intolerance and stigmas in different groups, we need more films about diversity presented in new ways like kimchi. the simplicity of this film is outstanding. it has a subtle voice yet it is heavy in emotions, and in between the two lies the poetry.
