Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Minikino Hybrid Internship for Film Festival Writers began as an educational event in 2021, designed to broaden Indonesian youths\u2019 horizons on short film industry by connecting them with both Indonesian and international filmmakers, as well as professionals from the industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s programme, which marks its fifth edition, is starting soon. The first part of the programme will be conducted online, starting 4 March\u20134 September 2025. The programme will be followed by onsite activities in Bali on 5\u201320 September 2025 where participants will attend Minikino Film Week 11, Bali International Short Film Festival.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the open call, 42 writers registered from all around Indonesia. Minikino selection process began with shortlisting candidates to get called for an interview. Applicants were evaluated based on their portfolios, motivational letters, and experiences. Out of the 18 interviewed candidates, four were selected based on their strong motivational statements, writing skills, and enthusiasm to grow and contribute to the wider short film industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indonesia<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Marlina Yulianty began her career in 2009 as a data processor at the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Research and Development (Balitbang Kemendikbud). In 2016, she moved to the Center for Film Development (Pusbangfilm), where she became the Coordinator of Publication and Public Relations. Following an organizational merger in early 2020, the center became the Directorate of Film, Music, and Media under the Directorate General of Culture, and Marlina was appointed as a cultural observer (Pamong Budaya) in film in 2021. Her strategic programs include numerous Indonesian film festivals, short film competitions, and international festival representation, and she actively supports numerous domestic film festivals. A Makassar native and passionate film enthusiast, Marlina enjoys watching films, reading, and listening to music in her free time.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nAMELIA HAPSARI<\/b><\/p>\n

Indonesia<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Amelia started documentary filmmaking in 2001, when she was in university. Being a college student during the pro-democracy reform after the fall of Suharto regime, Amelia was drawn into systemic injustice that has happened in Indonesia. Since then, she decided to amplify the voices of the marginalized, and those who fought for justice. Her first documentary was about street children in Indonesia, and her second documentary was about marine ecosystem destruction in South Sulawesi. After studying and working in the U.S., Germany, China, and East Timor for 12 years, Amelia returned to Indonesia to lead In-Docs in 2012. She was the co-creator of Docs By The Sea, Dare to Dream Asia and the host of Good Pitch Southeast Asia and Good Pitch Indonesia. In 2020 she joined Ashoka as the Framework Change Leader, but her passion for documentary and non-fiction storytelling never dies. In the same year, she was inducted to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Indonesia<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Tania is a film reviewer and co-founder of WatchmenID, one of Indonesia’s largest film media platforms on Twitter. She recently made her debut as a producer and director with NGGAK!!!, a project showcased at the Minikino x FilmAid Vertical Film Lab 2024, and has been featured in various festivals, including ‘Reel Asian’ 2024 & ‘BFI Flare’ 2025.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nREGGY HASIBUAN<\/b><\/p>\n

Indonesia<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Reggy Hasibuan is the first English-speaking Indonesian stand-up comedian, and also the first Indonesian comic to headline in countries outside Indonesia such as Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia. He is also a well-respected Stand Up Comedy mentor that has given birth to many national-level comedians. In his hometown of Malang, East Java, Reggy helped establish the local Stand Up Community there. For his active involvement in comedy, he is voted as one of the top 5 most influential Stand Up Comedians in Indonesia by comika.id<\/a>. In 2011 he moved to Jakarta, following the trending Stand Up Comedy while working daytime in an International NGO. Staying true to his character, Reggy performs only in English.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nRIINA MIKKONEN<\/b><\/p>\n

Finland<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Riina Mikkonen is executive director and programmer at Tampere Film Festival, Finland. Mikkonen is in the competition selection committee at Tampere Film Festival and has curated numerous short film programmes since she started her short film journey in 2005. Mikkonen has a Master\u2019s Degree in Media Studies from University of Turku and has also studied literature, art and culture history, gender studies and information science. She has experience also as a film critic, editor, librarian and information specialist. In cinema, she appreciates both the aesthetics and ethics and is interested especially in queer and environmental topics.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nJING HAASE<\/b><\/p>\n

Denmark<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Jing Haase is a curator and short film expert who has been working in the industry for more than two decades. She has previously worked with Nordic shorts and docs at Nordisk Panorama and as festival manager for short films at the Swedish Film Institute with a primary focus on international distribution. She has also worked as a programmer and in film production.<\/p>\n

Jing is often used as moderator, panellist and jury member at international festivals and industry events.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nMORITZ LEHR<\/b><\/p>\n

Germany<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Moritz Lehr is a curator for interfilm Berlin, though his creative endeavours did not begin in the area of film or images, but in music. He has been playing in punk and reggae bands, has toured extensively as one half of an anti-folk duo and has played records to people for the better part of his life. Growing up in the weird mainstreamyness of the 90s, his relationship with cinema has been complicated (albeit joyful) until he began studying art, music and media and came in contact with short film which in its aesthetic and formal diversity as well as its diy ethos reminded him immediately of what he loved about the music scenes he came from. Growing interested in questions of narrative perspectives, the contradictions of documentary approaches and essayist forms, he began working for different festivals before settling in Berlin where he is now, among other things, curator of the documentary competition.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nADITYA ASSARAT<\/b><\/p>\n

Thailand<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Aditya Assarat is a filmmaker from Thailand. His feature films include Hi-So and Wonderful Town, which won the New Currents Award from Busan and the Tiger Award from Rotterdam.\u00a0 His most recent film, Ten Years Thailand, which he produced and co-directed, premiered in Cannes.\u00a0 In addition to his own films, Aditya has also produced the films of younger Thai directors such as Eternity by Sivaroj Kongsakul, which won the Tiger Award from Rotterdam, Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, which premiered in Venice and W by Chonlasit Upanigkit, which premiered in Busan.\u00a0 Finally, Aditya is also the director of Purin Pictures, a film fund that supports independent cinema in Southeast Asia.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nBEN THOMPSON<\/b><\/p>\n

United States of America<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

A graduate from Aberystwyth University, Ben left Wales and London to settle in New York. Soon after arriving he joined the Tribeca Film Festival where he is currently the VP of Shorts Programming. From the start of his career as a filmmaker Ben has always had a keen interest in short form storytelling. While at Tribeca he discovered a passion for programming and presenting short films to new and engaged audiences. He is fascinated by the influence film has on our world and culture and travels to search out new stories from around the globe. He has watched over 13,000 short films for Tribeca alone.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nMARK PREBBLE<\/b><\/p>\n

New Zealand<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Mark Prebble is the Festival Manager for Show Me Shorts Film Festival and has been a key part of the success and growth of the festival over the past ten years. He has spoken on panels and events at Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, Short Shorts Film Festival, China International New Media Short Film Festival and Cannes Short Film Corner. He’s also been a jury member for festivals in Ireland, Greece and New Zealand. Mark has extensive experience as a short and feature filmmaker, bringing wide creative and technical knowledge to his festival work. His short film ‘PleasureDora’ had its world premiere at Minikino Film Week in 2024.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nGREGORY COUTAUT<\/b><\/p>\n

France<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

After studying cinema and English in his hometown of Bordeaux, Gregory Coutaut moved to Paris where he first worked as a translator in the audiovisual field. After various experiences at La Maison du film court, Ecran Total magazine and the dubbing department of Canal+, he began his activity as a film critic among the editorial staff of FilmDeCulte website.<\/p>\n

In 2017, he founded with Nicolas Bardot LePolyester.com, an online magazine dedicated to international arthouse cinema news, of which he is the co-editor-in-chief. As part of this activity, he conducts numerous interviews with filmmakers and covers several dozen film festivals per year, in France and abroad (where LePolyester is sometimes the only French-speaking media present). Until 2021, he chaired Aloha Distribution, a distribution company that allowed the release of several foreign feature documentaries in French cinemas.<\/p>\n

In 2022, he joined Paolo Moretti’ selection team for the Directors’ Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival as an artistic advisor. He oversaw the short films selection, which included Elisabeth Subrin’s MARIA SCHNEIDER 1983, which won the C\u00e9sar for Best Documentary Short Film. In 2024 he joined Ava Cahen’s committee for the short film selection of Canne’s Critic’s Week.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/td>\nMARY STEPHEN<\/b><\/p>\n

France<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Born in Hong Kong, Mary grew up in Canada and lives in France. She was French New Wave director Eric Rohmer\u2019s film editor and has worked with documentary and fiction filmmakers from several continents, as editor and advisor. She is also a director and a mentor, among other things, her latest film is PALIMPSEST: THE STORY OF A NAME.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
