Since its inception in 2002, Minikino has placed critical thinking at the heart of its mission. More than two decades later, this commitment continues through ongoing research into how short film discussions and filmmaking activities can support the development of children and youth aged 4\u201317.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Minikino launched a year-round public program inviting schools, teachers, parents, and individuals to recognize the value of short films as a meaningful educational supplement. For MFW11, the Education Team has selected 59 films in 11 programs from the official selection, each accompanied by a Watch and Learn Guide to support reflection and discussion after the screening.<\/p>\n

Activities such as school field trips, filmmaker Q&A sessions, and hands-on learning stations at the festival hub further extend this initiative\u2014fostering curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking through the shared experience of short films.<\/p>\n

Discover new ways to learn and teach with short films at Minikino Film Week 11 (MFW11)! Minikino invites educators, education observers, and parents to join the MFW11 Guide for Educators webinar. This pre-festival event is designed to introduce the Short Films for School program, which uses 59 films from 11 short film programs to help students aged 4\u201317 develop critical thinking and empathy. Participants will learn how to use the provided Watch and Learn Kit\u2014a guide with film lists, age recommendations, and discussion prompts\u2014to select appropriate films and facilitate meaningful post-screening conversations. <\/span><\/p>\n
