Image Forum Festival: A PAUSE, SPACE IN BETWEEN<\/h3>\n

\"image-forum-festival\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Image Forum established itself in its current form in February 1977. However, its original activity of screening and distributing experimental\/ independent\/ alternative films and videos started a few years earlier, in 1971, under the name “Underground Film Center”. Image Forum is a non-profit organization and doesn\u2019t receive any grants from national or local governments. The running cost is solely covered by admissions to the cinematheque programs and festivals, rental fee of the collected films and videos, and tuition for the film-making and video-making school.<\/p>\n

The Image Forum Festival was first held in 1987 and tours over seven cities, including Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Fukuoka and Nagoya every year. The festival introduces innovative new works from Japan as well as other countries. It is Japan’s largest art film festival, and the largest dedicated to the screening of new experimental films, both in Japan and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

A selection of works which was presented in Image Forum Festival 2019 East Asian Competition Section, including the grand-prize winning work NIGHT HORSE. We are now more aware of the distance these days. Distance and space gives a different view and new look on everyday things and relationship.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
