Karya-karya film pendekMalaysia dalam program pertukaran film pendek Asia Tenggara ini dipilih dengan pertimbangan sebagai karya-karya yang cukup representatif dari keberadaan film pendek di negara yang terlibat pada tahun 2005.
S-Express diprakarsai oleh Yuni Hadi ((Substation, Singapore), Amir Muhammad (Malaysian Shorts), dan Chalida Uabumrungjit (Thai Film Foundation) pada tahun 2002 dan sejak tahun 2004 Minikino ikut serta untuk memprogram bagian film pendek Indonesia. Pada tahun 2005, S-Express mengalami penambahan program, yaitu dari Filipina dan dari Cina.

James Lee’s fourth feature “The Beautiful Washing Machine” has been to over 2 dozen film festivals and won Best ASEAN Feature at the 2005 Bangkok International Film Festival. “Bernafas Dalam Lumpur” is his 12th short and the first in Malay. |

Kuantan-born Tan Chui Mui is the most prolific female independent filmmaker in Malaysia. She is active as writer, director, producer and most recently actress. She is currently working on a few more shorts and a feature. This short won 2nd prize at Oberhausen Short Film Festival 2005. |
