The JAFTA Block is a rotating and specially curated segment of the Jamaica Film and Television Association (JAFTA) that showcases films and talents from Jamaica and the Jamaican diaspora. This JAFTA Block – Bali edition – screens a mixture of independent short films from JAFTA members, as well as from participants in the JAFTA Propella script-to-screen developmental initiative.
JAFTA PROFILE:
The Jamaica Film and Television Association (JAFTA) is a government endorsed not-for-profit association comprising local film and tv practitioners and geared at cultivating a local audio-visual community. JAFTA facilitates and supports cultural exchange, capacity building and developmental initiatives, skills-sharing and community outreach; and advances best practices for the development of the local film and audio-visual industry.

Set to the backdrop of “Epilogue” by Kei Miller, A Broken Appointment explores the dynamic of closeting within a young gay relationship, and how “hiding in the dark” may lead to a destructive end. The film came out of an exploration of queer black experiences in white spaces, and is the foothold to a much larger film.
