S-Express adalah sebuah kolaborasi regional dalam bentuk pertukaran program film pendek, termasuk didalamnya adalah screening dan diskusi oleh para filmmaker dan kurator dari negara-negara yang terlibat (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, dan Cina) menjadi penggambaran sekilas mengenai pencapaian kegiatan perfileman di Asia.

“That’s Wicked!”

Did you know that in the world of beatboxing, Dharni Ng, the beatbox pioneer of Singapore, is crowned fifth in the world championships held in 2010? There are many more beatboxers in Singapore that are struggling to have their passion and talent recognized, by Singaporeans who dismiss beatboxing as ‘noise’. Featured in That’s Wicked! is fifteen year old Martin Tang, who will amaze you with his talent and flair.

“Ying & Summer”

Ying & Summer explores the immigrant experience through the eyes of Ying, a young shy Chinese girl settling in within the urban landscape of Melbourne. She seems content and free of burdens, yet there is something missing in her self-contained life and she quietly searches for the warmth of a companion.

“Before The Wedlock House”

It is the day of her marriage. The bride spent the morning in her room, dressing up and waiting for the groom to pick her up. Her filmmaker cousin documented these last moments before she left the room of her childhood.

“Drunken Moon”

2012 / 6 min. / Director: Raymond Teo

Drunken Moon is a light-hearted animation about a troubled poet. Set in the Tang Dynasty, our main character, the poet, feels terribly alone in the serene setting of the wilderness. He drinks to lament his loneliness but finds company in the moon’s presence. His excessive drinking led him into a surreal world where the tranquil night comes to life and joins him for company.

Janaki, a former recruit from the Indian National Army walks down memory lane, recollecting extremely painful memories during World War II. The film is an ironic observation on the way nature plays the role of a backdrop, in times of war. More than just a narrative, Janaki is also a visual collage of a fighter’s memories.

“Broken Crayon”

“Black and White and Silence”

A is a young pre-school teacher who loves children and yearns to be a mother but is diagnosed to be infertile. As an escape from her life, she spends her nights in a cinema. K is a five year old boy who is about to have a little sister. He shares his excitement with A, and unknowingly further agitates her emotions of being infertile. K is not old enough to understand her yet. Years later, K becomes a film director, who is now making a film about a young pre-school teacher who loves children and yearns to be a mother but is diagnosed to be infertile.
