Each of the film displays varieties of stories that are rich regarding women’s lives, as girls, as teenagers, as women and as life bearers. Hopefully this program can spark interesting discussions around women. Some films are quite entertaining with a simple narrative, yet there are also a number of experimental works that also wide open for interpretations.

Women of diferent places in the world, are united by the voice of a very special baby: the little girl that was not able to be born, struggles for her primary goal, to be born.

DIRECTOR’S SHORT BIO
Alicia Albares was born in Madrid, she studied Communication in Complutense University in Madrid, while she started to write her own projects. Focused occupationally and vocationally in cinema scope, she has worked in a lot of films as third assistant director and production assistant.

In 2013, she directed, wrote and produced her first short film, To the other side an astonishing story full of magic an mystery, which has won 20 awards and collects more than 160 selections in festivals in Spain and around the globe. It h as been selected in festivals such as Los Angeles Screamfest, Razor Reel, Lund Fantastic Film festival or the Zaragoza Film Festival. Where Leaves Fall is her second shortfilm, starring María Miguel, Carlos Álvarez-Nóvoa, Jesús Castejón and Asunción Balaguer.

Madres de Luna is her third short film as screenwriter and director, and the main cast are Ingrid Rubio and Ramiro Blas. She is writing her first script for a feature film.

DIRECTOR’S SHORT BIO
Mélina Quitich-Niquay (b.1997) born in Joliette. She explored several art forms such as photography, music, special effects makeup and film prop making.

In 2016, she won the Best Young Atikamekw Singer Award and hopes to one day work with her father, the singer-songwriter Régis Niquay. She is inspired by Frida Khalo and Florence Welch.

Soudabeh Kamrani is an independent Iranian female film director. Her master’s degree is in Illustration and she work as a graphic designer. 3 years ago ahw started to study cinema and make films. My first films “Black Reflection” is experimental and fiction. “Sleepless” is my second short experimental.

Arnaud Pelca studied modern literature and undertaken a course at the Centre for Writing and Communications (CEC) in Paris, a self–taught filmmaker Arnaud Pelca became an editor and proof–reader of all kinds of texts. He also reads and advises on screenplays. Half Time is his first film as a director.

Ahmad Fahmi Nur Khafifi was born in Sapudi island, Indonesia. Currently living in Yogyakarta and taking studies about Film and Television in Indonesian Institute of The Arts Yogyakarta. Have been directed several short fiction films and documentaries. His last documentary “It’s Raining” was screened at the International Anthropological Film Festival Sjon and get best college film nomination at Strasburg Film Festival.

DIRECTOR’S SHORT BIO
Azalia Primadita Muchransyah is pursuing a Ph.D. in Media Study at University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo, New York. She is a recipient of DIKTI-Funded Fulbright Ph.D. Scholarship 2017. Prior to her Fulbright award, she was the Deputy Head of Film Program at Bina Nusantara University International, Jakarta, Indonesia. She has been writing scripts professionally in Indonesia since 2002. Her short films include: HIV/AIDS: Not A Death Sentence (2018), Big Durian Big Apple (2018), Blue Film (2018), and Tamu (2018).

Edo Wulia grew up in his father’s home island – Bali, Indonesia. Art has always been an integral part of the family circle. Edo volunteering in Minikino since late 2003 as a screening officer, moderator, technician and handling several festival’s fringe projects.In 2015 he was appointed to perform the duties and functions as festival director for Minikino.
