Industri film Indonesia telah mengalami pertumbuhan yang signifikan selama 20 tahun terakhir. Meski begitu, banyak pembuat film masih menghadapi kesenjangan keterampilan dan pengetahuan. Didirikan pada tahun 2024, Shorts Up hadir untuk menjembatani kesenjangan tersebut dengan mendukung talenta-talenta baru yang kekurangan akses peluang, sumber daya, dan informasi untuk pembuatan film pendek mereka.
Shorts Up memiliki misi untuk mendorong hadirnya perspektif segar dan keberagaman dalam industri film pendek, serta memperkokoh lanskap sinema Asia Tenggara. Memberdayakan suara-suara baru, Shorts Up juga dirancang untuk memperkaya dan memperluas panorama film Indonesia di panggung global.
Untuk mewujudkannya, tiap tahun Shorts Up memilih kelompok-kelompok produksi yang terdiri dari penulis dan produser untuk mengikuti serangkaian aktivitasnya. Program Shorts up membimbing bibit-bibit filmmaker Indonesia untuk memasuki industri film, dimulai dari merancang produksi film pendek mereka. Menawarkan kesempatan bagi filmmaker pemula untuk bertumbuh dalam lingkungan yang mendukung, menginspirasi, dan kreatif, program ini menjadi bagian integral dari gerakan pemajuan kebudayaan di Indonesia.
Over the past two decades, the Indonesian film industry has experienced significant growth. Despite this progress, many filmmakers still face gaps in skills, knowledge, and access to professional opportunities.
Founded in 2024, Shorts Up was created to help bridge these gaps by supporting emerging talents who lack access to opportunities, resources, and essential information needed to develop their short film projects.
Shorts Up is driven by a mission to foster fresh perspectives and greater diversity within the short film landscape, while strengthening the broader Southeast Asian cinema ecosystem. By empowering new voices, the program aims to enrich and expand the presence of Indonesian cinema on the global stage.
Each year, Shorts Up selects production teams consisting of writers and producers to participate in a structured series of program activities. The program guides emerging Indonesian filmmakers as they take their first steps into the industry, beginning with the development and design of their short film productions.
By offering early-career filmmakers the opportunity to grow within a supportive, inspiring, and creative environment, Shorts Up has become an integral part of Indonesia’s broader cultural advancement movement.
