CONFLICT, IMPACT, AND THE ARTISTIC HORIZON Co-presented by Minikino and Marginalia.id

In an era marked by shifting geopolitics and global turmoil, understanding Southeast Asia through a single national lens is no longer enough. This forum approaches the region as an interconnected tapestry, examining how short cinema serves as a vital medium to navigate local conflicts, generate real-world impact, and push artistic boundaries.

Adapted from the World Café methodology, this session fosters dynamic, small-group dialogues designed to spark collective insight. Following an opening framework on the regional importance of Southeast Asian short film culture, participants will divide into interactive tables to tackle key questions surrounding thematic trends, dissemination, and artistic evolution. The forum concludes with a shared harvesting session, weaving together individual group perspectives.

  • SESSION STRUCTURE: 15 Mins | Opening & Framing: Setting the regional context and introducing key questions.
  • 45 Mins | Small-Group World Café Rounds: Focused, collaborative table discussions on conflict, impact, and artistic form.
  • 30 Mins | Harvest & Regrouping: Sharing insights, emerging ideas, and key takeaways with the collective assembly.
