Every single year, Minikino Film Week is forged through a powerful collective effort. Since our journey began in 2002, this festival has been sustained by the pure spirit and energy of volunteering. It is the seamless synergy between our dedicated, year-round core team and the high-energy volunteer squad that truly breathes life into the festival.
Since operating under the Kino Media Foundation in 2017, Minikino’s international short film festival work has become even more dynamic. This foundation has allowed us to better support our team by covering basic on-duty production costs for volunteers, such as meals and local transport during the festival.
For MFW12, we are expanding this unique collective. We warmly welcome passionate individuals from all backgrounds—both from across Indonesia and international shores. Whether you are a newcomer ready to take your first step or a returning crew member looking to handle more complex operations, we invite you to co-sign this journey with us.
A Note for Out-of-Town & International Applicants: Please note that volunteers traveling from outside Bali will need to independently cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. In return, you will gain the invaluable experience of working inside a passionate, international short film network. Let’s make this edition truly historic together!

CHOOSE YOUR DIVISION
ACCESSIBILITY HOST
Reports to: Venue & Volunteer Manager MFW12
Minikino Film Week actively champions cinema accessibility, featuring dedicated programs with audio descriptions for low vision and blind audiences, as well as subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SDH). However, we face real-world challenges: while we strive for full accessibility, not all festival venues are currently wheelchair-friendly, though several locations are fully equipped to welcome everyone.
This is exactly why your role is vital. As an Inclusive volunteer, you will bridge these gaps and safeguard accessibility across our festival spaces. Your goal is to ensure MFW12 remains safe, welcoming, and navigable for disabled and elderly visitors.
PASS & TICKET
Reports to: Pass & Ticket Coordinator MFW12
At Minikino Film Week, entering a screening doesn’t always mean buying a new ticket on the spot; many attendees will use a Festival Pass, which allows them to redeem tickets for specific sessions.
As a Festival Pass & Ticket volunteer, you will manage these frontline access transactions by processing both the purchase of daily tickets/passes and the redemption of tickets via Festival Passes. Your role is critical to maintaining smooth crowd flows and ensuring everyone gets to their seats on time.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Reports to: Festival Brand Publicist MFW12
For many filmmakers, partners, and film enthusiasts around the world, our social media channels are their only window into the festival. Your work is the bridge that allows those who cannot be physically present in Bali to still feel the warmth, energy, and pulse of MFW12 from afar.
As a Social Media volunteer, you will drive this real-time digital narrative by capturing and producing high-energy, on-the-ground content. You will be the eyes and ears of our global community, ensuring no one misses out on the festival magic.
MEDIA CENTER
Reports to: Festival Brand Publicist MFW12
As a Media Center volunteer, you will serve as the operational bridge between the festival and attending journalists, media partners, and press representatives. You will manage Media Center logistics, distribute press kits while tracking log sheets, and act as a responsive information desk answering press FAQs. Your role involves coordinating media interviews, assisting the Publicist during Media Gatherings, ensuring partners fulfill promotional deliverables, and drafting concise daily activity reports.
AUDIO DOC
Reports to: Documentation Coordinator MFW12
The dialogues, panels, and masterclasses at our Short Film Market are rich with industry knowledge and historic insights. As a Documentation Audio Volunteer, your ears and technical precision will preserve these voices, ensuring that the valuable knowledge shared during MFW12’s industry events is captured clearly and archived perfectly for the future.
VIDEO DOC
Reports to: Documentation Coordinator MFW12
A festival is not just about the films onscreen; it is about the fleeting moments between them—the shared gasps in a dark theater, the nervous excitement of a filmmaker before a Q&A, and the warm, buzzing energy of people connecting in the festival halls. As a Documentation Video Volunteer, your lens will be the eyes of MFW12, capturing the living, breathing soul and unique atmosphere of this edition.
Instead of just recording events, you are here to preserve the emotions, the movement, and the collective spirit that makes Minikino so special.
PHOTO DOC
Reports to: Documentation Coordinator MFW12
Photography at Minikino is about freezing the raw, unscripted moments that define our festival community—the quiet focus before a screening, the spark of connection during an after-talk, and the fleeting smiles in the festival corridors. As a Documentation Photo Volunteer, you are a visual historian, capturing the human stories and the authentic heartbeat of MFW12 through your lens.
Your photographs will not just document what happened; they will remind us of how it felt to be there, serving as a timeless anchor for our collective memory.
SCREENING OFFICER
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator MFW12
The screening room is the heart of Minikino Film Week—a sacred space where films meet their audience. As a Screening Officer, you are the guardian of this experience. Your role goes far beyond logistics; you are the warm host who welcomes filmgoers, maintains the intimate atmosphere of the cinema, and ensures that every screening program runs seamlessly and on time.
You are the vital link between the audience, the projection room, and the festival’s daily pulse, making sure everyone feels at home. You will also gather the festival’s daily footprint by compiling accurate attendance counts at the end of each program and sharing these insights with the coordinator to help us understand our audience better.
EQUIPMENT
Reports to: Technical Coordinator MFW12
Behind every moving image and crisp soundbite is a backbone of technical care. As an Equipment Volunteer, you are the technical caretaker and will join the pool-cinema of MFW12. Your role is not just about managing hardware; it is about treating our equipment with respect and ensuring that the vital tools of our collective festival flow smoothly and safely between all teams and venues.
You are the reliable anchor who makes sure the festival’s physical gear is ready to perform whenever and wherever it is needed.
PACK-UP CREW
Reports to: Volunteer & Venue Manager MFW12
A festival venue is a temporary home that we borrow, and treating it with respect means leaving it just as beautiful as we found it. As a Venue Fixer & Strike Team member, you are the reliable guardian of the festival’s physical footprint. Your core mission is to ensure that all festival assets, materials, and equipment are mindfully gathered, packed, and safely returned to their rightful places at the end of the day.
You hold the vital role of ensuring nothing is left behind, keeping our collective gear safe, organized, and ready for the next destination.
CAR DRIVER
Reports to: Transport Coordinator MFW12
As a Car Driver, you are often the very first and last face our festival guests whether international or national guests and jury members will see. Far more than just navigating the roads, you are a cultural ambassador for Denpasar and Bali. You will weave through the city to provide warm, safe, and punctual journeys between the airport, hotels, and festival venues—sharing your local knowledge and welcoming spirit along the way.
SHORT FILM LIBRARY
Reports to: Short Film Market Manager MFW12
The Short Film Library is a dedicated space where festival delegates, programmers, filmmakers, and market attendees come to discover new talent and explore our extensive catalog of short films offline.
INDUSTRY EVENTS
Reports to: Industry Event Coordinator MFW12
Our Industry Events at Short FIlm Market—ranging from panels, masterclasses, and networking talks to exclusive fellowship programs—are where the professional film community connects and grows. As an Industry Event Volunteer, you are the orchestrator of these spaces. Your mission is to ensure that every session flows seamlessly, the rooms are properly prepared, and our guest speakers and fellows feel well-supported and welcomed.
Instead of handling heavy technical setups, you will focus on space readiness and hospitality, working hand-in-hand with the Equipment team to ensure all rooms function perfectly.
EDUCATION ACTIVITIES
Reports to: Education Manager MFW12
Minikino Film Week believes that cinema is a powerful tool for learning. Through MFW12 Education, we host a vibrant mix of activities—from special screening programs welcoming groups of school students to non-screening educational activities. As an Education Activities Volunteer, you are the welcoming bridge between the festival and our educational community. Your mission is to ensure that students, teachers, and participants feel safe, guided, and excited to learn.
Instead of teaching or leading the academic discussions yourself, you will focus on the smooth on-site coordination, hospitality, and fluid movement of our young audiences and guests.
FRONT DESK
Reports to: Front Desk Coordinator MFW12
The Front Desk at our festival lounge is the gateway to the Minikino experience—it is one of the very first places where our warmth, spirit, and hospitality come alive. As a Front Desk Volunteer, you are the friendly face and the helpful anchor for every filmmaker, guest, and film lover who steps through our doors. You will welcome local, national, and international storytellers, hand them their festival kits, and guide them smoothly into the world of MFW12.
Instead of just managing a desk, you will create a welcoming sanctuary where people can find answers, ask about schedules, and instantly feel part of our global collective.
HOTLINE
Reports to: Front Desk Coordinator MFW12
The festival hotline is the quiet powerhouse of MFW12—the central radar and communication lifeline that keeps everyone connected. As a Hotline Volunteer, you are the voice of clarity amid the festival’s buzzing energy. Whether it is a filmmaker lost on their way to a venue, a guest checking screening times, or an internal team member needing quick logistics updates, you are the calm, reliable anchor who ensures information flows back and forth without a hitch.
Instead of just answering phones, you are keeping the festival’s nervous system running smoothly and smoothly connecting our community, one message at a time.
HOSPITALITY
Reports to: Guest Relations Coordinator MFW12
At Minikino, we don’t have “VIPs”—every filmmaker, speaker, and guest who shares their time with us is equally valued. As a Hospitality Volunteer, you are part of a dynamic team that welcomes and guides our international and national guests collectively. Instead of being assigned as a dedicated personal guide to just one person, you and your team will work together to orchestrate smooth airport arrivals, welcome speakers at venues, and ensure our visiting film community navigates MFW12 smoothly and happily.
You are the warm, collective bridge that makes our guests feel supported, respected, and instantly connected to the wider MFW12 community.
FRINGE EVENTS
Reports to: Fringe Coordinator MFW12
Our Fringe Events are the social playground of MFW12. These are the casual, vibrant activations designed to break the ice, foster genuine fellowship, and let filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences mingle without the pressure of formal panels. From relaxed networking gatherings to guided city walks exploring the hidden gems of Denpasar, you will help create spaces where creative minds can unwind, breathe, and share ideas naturally.
As a Fringe Events Volunteer, you are the social spark and the local guide who turns a simple gathering into an unforgettable community experience.
