MFW5 YOUTH JURY AWARD
SISTERS
Daphne Lucker / Netherlands / 2018 / Experimental / 15:00
“It is fresh, raw and experimental, conveying a complex story in an audiovisual experience that transcend words. You are grasped and immersed by the flow, connections and tone of the film. It’s not spoon fed to you, it has room for interpretation and personality.
It’s very beautiful while being abstract and without verbs. I think it combined two art forms: dance and cinema (plus music) to create a piece of art while still being easily understood by viewers. The narrative, characters, sound, and atmosphere are stunningly haunting in a way that transcends words. It gives you chills and makes you feel the fear and horror the characters feel while still being awed by the film’s beauty. It’s really art, that touches your heart and will be captivating for all who watch.”
