Memories are a part of oneself. A little girl at her father’s funeral starts to reflect on her own.

About the filmmaker: Honami Yano was born on a small island in Japan. During her college years spent in Kyoto, she went on an exchange program to the Rhode Island School of Design. Received the master’s degree at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media.

After graduation, she worked at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media as a researcher assistant for three years.


CHILDSKIN

It’s hard being an adult. Most want to stay young, never aging. Yet in this short animated film, a child can’t wait to accept their puberty – through the mail.

About the filmmaker:

Pepi Eirew is an Experimental Animation student at CalArts, as a Lillian Disney Scholar. “Childskin” has also been screened at the “I Will Tell International Film Festival”, “Big Cartoon Festival”, “Festival Internacional de Cine Con Medios Alternativos”, “MAX3MIN”, “Primaanima”, “Zeitimpuls” and at “Chaniartoon – International Comic & Animation Festival”. Her work explores the human experience, strange beings, and surreal landscapes. She is based in Vancouver, Canada. More of her illustrations and animations can be seen at @pepiandthecreatures.

An attempt on deconstructing Nietzsche’s Genealogy of Morals, with inverted images and insistent sounds.

About the filmmaker:

Bayu Kusuma (b. 14 May 1996, Yogyakarta) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. As an outsider who does not have any film background and does not have formal education in a film academy, His projects have been consistently relying on independent and collective movement surrounding him. Bayu Kusuma has directed, written, and produced 3 Films (Even if I know, Sore Scenery, and GMIII: Essay 23 – 28). His works usually focus on deconstructing the human relationships and daily conversation in an attempt to associate it with philosophy & humanism while trying to let the audience to self-generate their own narration toward his works.

About the filmmakers:

Clarissa Jacobson works with Shayna Weber under her screenwriting/directing shingle – Rebel Minx – rebelminx.com. Clarissa (heyimclarissaj.com) started as an actress then found her passion in screenwriting. She has also written a book: I Made A Short Film Now WTF Do I Do With It (a guide to film festivals, promotion, and surviving the ride).

J.M.Logan is an award-winning director, writer, and producer who has worked in every position on more than a hundred feature films. He most recently made the highly successful horror short, The Relic.


MISOPHONIA

Life is a zoo, and a zoo’s guardian is having trouble falling asleep. Disturbed even by the slightest noise, Will he silence his own heartbeat too?

About the filmmaker:

Filippo Guarna was born in London in 1998. He moved to Milan the following year and to Rome in 2006.

In 2017 he started studying filmmaking in London, achieving his bachelor’s degree with his graduation short film “Misophonia”.Currently, Filippo works as a freelancer in the UK and in Italy.


RENGGANA (WOMAN)

Kasih knows what she wants, to be a Ronggeng dancer. But some things are beyond her control.

About the filmmaker:

AR Affandi was born in Ciawigebang Village, Kuningan Regency, West Java. He started writing in junior high school grade 1. Consistently, he has been actively writing and publishing poetry books, short stories, and novels, in addition to writing, he has also been writing plays and film screenplays, and also directing and producing them since 2004.

Currently, AR Affandi is an extra-curricular Cinematography tutor and Audio Video Engineering Lecturer at SMKN 1 Luragung.


ABOUT PROGRAMMERS:

Rasyid Faqih

Acid / Faqih, was 8 when he fell in love with films after watching Laskar Pelangi on a pop-up screen event at the shores of the Belitung Island. He then decided to study film further at the Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta. He became the Chief Main-Program at Sewon Screening 2019 and was then invited to join the Pre-Selection Committee and Programming Team for Minikino Film Week from 2019 until now.

Azalia Syahputri

Azel was born and raised in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. She currently studies Film at Indonesia Institute of Arts, Yogyakarta. In the past 4 years, she involved in various activities within arts, including art management, visual artist, film critic, and music management.
