Programmer’s Note:
Nòt Film Fest is honored to present a selection of Italian short films that have graced its lineup throughout the years. The festival, which has been renamed by Mashable “The Italian Sundance”, has been in the forefront of working for the promotion and dissemination of independent cinema from all over the world, while always keeping an eye on national projects like the ones you find here.
Axioma, The Last Crossroad, Sturling, Certe Brutte Compagnie, Stop Invasion, and Bad Mood, are the work of young Italian talents, the ones who will certainly make the future of Italian cinema and that we proudly share with you.

The story of a young girl victim of her own inner monster: a disease that leads one to hate oneself, to isolate, to spend one’s life from one bathroom to another, a disease that leads to pain. Those around her try to understand her and to give her the necessary tools to react. Because a monster like bulimia can be silenced only by listening to what surrounds us.
Director’s bio
Guglielmo Poggi is an actor, director, and musician. He graduates from the most prestigious cinema school in Italy “Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia”, Scuola Nazionale di Cinema, and immediately starts his career in cinema. He has been working in front and behind the camera since 2008. You can see him now on Netflix as one of the main characters of the series Luna Park.
AXIOMA

An accident and the inability to walk belong to the protagonist’s past as axioms, postulates that do not need to be explained. Each and every one of us is somehow touched by disability. Nonetheless, This is a story to prove that anybody can get their chance to start a new.

Elisa Ponti is an Italian film writer and director. In 2017 wrote, produced, and directed her very first short film AXIOMA, which was shortlisted and awarded in many international film festivals. Axioma was lately acquired by Rai – Italian National Television and by streaming platforms for worldwide streaming. Between 2018 – 2019, Elisa worked on various projects as a writer and producer. In 2020 she founded KINEMA FILM, a film production company. In 2021 shot her second short film, PLAYGROUND
STURLING

Domino Sturling is a professional villain, the best in the world, who finds himself dismissed due to being replaced by a younger man. He has to fight to demonstrate to himself and to the world that he is still the number one villain.
Director’s bio
Rodolfo Gusmeroli in his years of apprenticeship and studies on sets and in Cinecittà’s studios Academy decided to test himself doing a leap of quality writing, directing, and producing his first short film, Sturling. The short film started collecting nominations and victories at many festivals including prestigious Austin FF and Ortigia FF. In 2020 he sees himself as co-founder of Montsugi Production, a collective created with his colleague Paolo Talamonti.
STOP INVASION

A man wakes up stuck inside his car following an accident, near to him lies his wife, unconscious. Through flashbacks, we follow the events that led to the accident while in Italy a mysterious epidemic is spreading. There are those who think that it’s happening because of the vaccines, who are ready to swear that it is the fault of a meat-based diet, but until now the most accepted hypothesis is that the disease has started with foreigners.

Marina di Pisa is a peaceful village on the Tuscan coast. Giorgio has always lived here, a typical provincial boy who works as a night watchman for a security company. He lives with the constant desire to escape from this life but without the determination to look for an alternative.

Since 2014, Paolo Lobbia has directed commercials for several important brands such as Upim, Bosh, Ventura, Vanini, Yap, Rossopomodoro and Moleskine. He is the director of the social campaigns of Comitato Maria Letizia Verga, Doppia Difesa, Corepla e Fondazione TOG. In 2019 he directed his first short film The Last Crossroad.

Director’s bio
Loris Giuseppe Nese, director, screenwriter, D.O.P, animator, was born in Salerno. The films he worked on, “Those Bad Things”, “Veronica Can’t Smoke”, “Bad Mood”, “Il Turno”, “The Moment Of Passage”, were presented and awarded at major international festivals, including Venice Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Dok Leipzig. His first feature film is now in development.
