A little boy who is risking his life for his 9 imaginary friends.
The winner of the Begadang Filmmaking Competition not only demonstrates great technical skill but also engages our emotions, allowing us to experience a fleeting sense of joy – even if the film ultimately ends on a sorrowful note. This film deftly meets all four criteria of the competition, whilst telling such an absorbing story that we forgot to look out for them.

SHORT BIO
Deru Ibnu Ghifari was born on the shores of Kalianda, South Lampung, on July 31, 2006. He spent his childhood in Kalianda, his teenage years in Bandar Lampung, and now studies Media Production at the University of Indonesia. Toward the end of high school, he created his first short film with childhood friends from Kalianda—a project that inspired him to pursue a college degree focused on filmmaking.
To date, he has directed one music video and four short films, including Imam and His 9 Friends, which won the Begadang 9-Year Filmmaking Competition at Minikino Film Week 2025. Currently, he directs and produces short films and music videos while occasionally sharing personal essays on Instagram @deruombaak
