Tech Tales Youth 2 expands the digital rights movement through visual storytelling from Bangladesh and Malaysia. Building on two editions, EngageMedia—advocating for digital rights, social issue films, and open technology—engages young filmmakers as digital rights defenders.

Five films explore urgent challenges through diverse approaches. Bangladesh: “The Black Kite” examines the impact of internet shutdowns on disabled freelancers, “Whispers of the Ink” follows an artist navigating surveillance during unrest, and “Echoes of Exile” addresses online harassment affecting the trans community. Malaysia: “Hai Anis” explores online grooming of teenagers, and “Balang Terang” examines how disinformation fuels racial tensions.

These short films represent a distinctive approach that combines documentary, fiction, and experimental formats with impact-driven production. More than just portraying issues, they advocate for change, holding Big Tech accountable while providing resources for digital rights campaigns

The Indonesian Film Festival (Festival Film Indonesia) stands as the highest accolade in the Indonesian film industry, serving as a benchmark for achievement, recognition, appreciation, and the promotion of Indonesian cinema. First held in 1955, the festival was initiated by two of the most influential figures in the nation’s cinematic history—Usmar Ismail and Djamaluddin Malik.

Since 1973, the festival has been held annually, though it experienced a hiatus from 1993 to 2003 due to a decline in the national film industry. In 2004, the Indonesian Film Festival was successfully revived, marking a new chapter in its history.

Organized by the Indonesian Film Festival Committee with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the festival continues to celebrate the richness and diversity of the nation’s cinematic achievements. This year’s edition carries the theme “Puspawarna Sinema Indonesia”, highlighting the vibrant spectrum of voices, stories, and talents
