Cinema Club: A Learning Space Through Short Films for Children, Teens, and Adults

Sanggar Sinema is an educational program by Minikino, designed as a creative space where the experience of watching short films is transformed into various forms of expression and storytelling. Each week, participants are invited to watch films, engage in discussions, draw, write poems or stories, and explore other forms of creativity. With a small class size (5–15 participants), every child, teen, and adult has the opportunity to experiment, work individually or in groups, and discover their own way of interpreting and shaping stories.

Who is Cinema Club For?

This program is designed for:

  • Children and teens who are curious about the world of film, especially short films.
  • Those who enjoy storytelling and want to learn how to understand stories through audiovisual works.
  • Participants who wish to build confidence and learn to articulate their thoughts, whether through public speaking or through exploring various art forms (drawing, collage, writing, poetry, and more).
  • Children and teens who are just beginning to explore films, as well as those who already enjoy watching them.

No technical skills are required. All that’s needed is curiosity, openness, and the spirit to learn through play and exploration.

Who Leads and Facilitates Cinema Club?

Edo Wulia A multidisciplinary artist, musician, and graphic designer with over 30 years of experience. Since 2003, he has been actively involved with Minikino as a facilitator, program designer, and contributor to numerous film literacy initiatives. He has extensive experience working with children and teens in arts and educational activities.

 

Fransiska Prihadi An architect and short-film curator/programmer who also serves as Minikino’s Program Director. She has been a jury member, mentor, and guest speaker at various international film festivals. Her particular interest lies in developing film literacy as an educational tool for children and young people.

 

I Made Suarbawa A short film activist, writer, and producer with more than a decade of experience running traveling screenings in villages across Bali. He has guided children and teens in numerous film workshops, using an approach that is grounded, accessible, and empowering.

 

Saffira Nusadewi A creative facilitator with a focus on media literacy for children and teens. She has experience designing activities based on stories, images, and films for a wide range of age groups. She is actively involved in supporting Minikino’s educational programs.
