Eki, living by the landfill, searches for a memento to honor his late mother. Battling the relentless rain, landslides, and looming threats from scavengers and machinery, he fears her memory could be lost beneath the waste forever.

Amar Haikal is a young Indonesian filmmaker who studied film directing at the Jakarta Institute of Arts. Two of his student films, BISING (2023) and My Plastic Mother (2025), have been screened at various international film festivals, including Leeds, Busan Shorts, Singapore, Toronto Reel Asian, and Flickerfest Australia, among others.

Caitlin, a 6-year-old girl, navigates her life amidst the commotion of her family’s arguments in a Hokkien dialect she doesn’t understand. She tries to make sense of the confusing pressures and emotions around her through the rhythmic sound of a ping pong ball.
Director: Andrew Kose
Andrew Kose is a Chinese-Indonesian film director and an alumnus of the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne. He is known for his short films, which have screened at Vilnius Short Film Festival, NOT Film Fest, and SeaShorts. One of his short films won the Jakarta Film Fund Award at Jakarta Film Week 2021. He is also an alumnus of the International Film Camp 2024 (AFAA) and Fantastic Film School 2024 (BIFAN). Kose is currently developing his first feature film.

After his arrest, a punk vocalist is sent to a moral rehabilitation center where he meets the ghost of his past. Between rebellion and remorse, he fights against the system that confines him, only to realize his only path to freedom lies within the last person on earth he wants to see.

Dhiwangkara Seta began filmmaking through Jakarta’s music scene. Raised in the city’s outskirts, he explores social inequality, class, and masculinity issues. His debut short Samu The Terrible and his SIN (2024) won Best National Short at Minikino. His recent short aLPa premiered at JAFF 2025 and was a Layar Indonesiana finalist.

Director: Beny Kristia
Beny Kristia, born in Magelang, studied film in Malang and co-founded Berakinema. His film When the Blues Goes Marching In screened at Minikino, Diffusion, Beijing International Short Film Festival, QCinema, Festival Film Dokumenter, and Singapore International Film Festival. In 2025, he moved to Jakarta to join Milisiflem Collective.

A man tells a journalist about the photos and memories from his childhood in home and village that will soon disappear for the new national capital city. With his brother, he returns to the places they once played, taking pictures and recreating stories as if the land was still the same.
Director: Maarij Reka
Maarij Reka is a film student at Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta and writer-director. His short film Erased from the Map (2025), funded by Layar Indonesiana, premiered at Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival 2025. He is currently developing his debut feature, The Boy with His Mother’s Statue, which received a development grant from Jakarta Film Week Producers Lab 2025 and was selected for the Indonesia–France Film Lab at JAFF Market 2025.

ANAKTANA tells the story of a mute boy named Anaktana who possesses the ability to communicate with nature. When a palm oil company faces a mysterious case of missing workers in the forest, they force Anaktana’s mother to seek his help. Together with his mother, the company foreman Paulus, and two workers named Julian and Haikal, they venture deep into the forest. However, the journey unveils a dark truth about human greed and the destruction of nature. Anaktana encounters the living spirit of the forest—including a mysterious Tree Girl—and must protect himself and his mother amid the conflict between humanity, nature, and greed.
Director: Theo Rumansara
Theo Rumansara is a Papuan filmmaker best known for his debut film, Orpa, which screened at numerous national and international film festivals. After a nearly two-year hiatus from the film industry, Theo returns with a narrative that is deeper, more introspective, and profoundly spiritual. Anaktana represents his personal and cinematic journey back to his roots.
Director: Richard Suwae
Richard Suwae is a Papuan director who focuses on realist dramas that highlight the social, cultural, and humanitarian issues of the Papuan people. Through his short film Banyu—produced during his studies in Yogyakarta—he addresses the issue of violence against women and calls for greater respect for women’s dignity. Richard is also deeply committed to advocating for Papuan rights and the preservation of forests as a vital part of indigenous identity and livelihood. For him, film is a tool to voice the truth and drive positive change.
