Indonesia

Audie was born in Surabaya, raised in Jakarta and Denpasar, and feels home wherever there’s a movie screen. Between his studies at Petra Christian University’s English for Creative Industry Program and work training Indonesia’s next generation of debate athletes, he writes about the intersection of cinema, history, sociology, and the environment on various online platforms. He interned as a Film Festival Writer at Minikino Film Week 11, and is currently writing his undergraduate thesis about the use of fairy tale elements in Kokokan Mencari Arumbawangi, a children’s novel about agricultural conflict in Bali.

Eric Sasono is an Indonesian film critic who obtained his doctoral degree in film studies from King’s College London in 2019. He co-founded the Indonesian Film Society, a London-based community group to screen films regularly in London and to promote Indonesian culture to the UK public and beyond. Eric was the secretary of the executive board of YMMFI, Indonesian Independent Film Society Foundation, (2009-2019) that established the Indonesian Documentary Center (In-Docs) and organized the now-defunct Jakarta International Film Festival (JIFFest). Eric has co-written a book about Indonesian film industry and edited a volume about Southeast Asian cinema. He is now working in a Jakarta-based civil society organization while working on his research about ‘film Islami’. Eric is actively blogging in ericsasono.com.

Hafiz Rancajale (Pekanbaru, 1971) is an artist, filmmaker, curator, and co-founder of Forum Lenteng. He graduated from the Jakarta Institute for the Arts (IKJ) and is currently a lecturer at MILISIFILEM COLLECTIVE and the Chairman of Forum Lenteng.

Jason Todd is a Montreal-based writer, curator, and filmmaker. He curates short films for Rendez-Vous Québec Cinéma and SVOD platform Tënk Canada, where he previously served as art director. He has been a board member of the Short Film Conference since 2023. He is a pre-programmer for the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, has sit on multiple panels, and his writing – solely focused on discussing short films and the industry – has appeared in publications such as 24 images, Revue Séquences, and Talking Short.

Malaysia

Kalash Nanda Kumar is a Malaysian journalist and critic. Kalash graduated with a degree in filmmaking, and gained formative experience on film and television sets in major productions for Warner Bros., BBC, and Astro Shaw. In 2022, Kalash became the first Malaysian to be invited into the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) and the Golden Globe awards as an International Voter. Kalash regularly serves as a juror, programmer, and facilitator at film festivals around the world.

Beyond journalism, Kalash advocates for reform through affiliations with non-profits. He was a founding member and communications director for Imagined Malaysia. He is oriented towards cinema that serves community imaginaries, building on neohumanist principles of care and universal fraternity.

Kiki Febriyanti, a filmmaker and artist. She has directed several short films, documentaries, music videos and video art, which mainly focus on gender, social and cultural themes. Her works have been screened at various national and international film festivals.

Komang Yuni was born in Gianyar, Bali, but has spent nearly half her life in Denpasar. Her love for good short films began in 2023, and she has been steadily increasing her intake ever since. She is currently studying Sociology at Brawijaya University while continuing to write—an endeavor as essential to her as breathing.

Lulu was born and raised in Jakarta. A graduate of Anthropology from the University of Indonesia (1997) and the Graduate School of IKJ (2020), she has worked at various film festivals both within and outside Indonesia. She is the Short Film Outreach Programmer for Boemboe Organization, a lecturer in the Film Study Program at Multimedia Nusantara University, and a Program Advisor for IDFA/International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.

(b. Jakarta) Vivian believes that films have a strong impact on education, improving teamwork & capacity building. She involved in various film productions in Indonesia, including Pintu Terlarang (2009), Radit & Jani (2008), Guru Rimba, Di Manapun Jadi Sekolah (2010), Ola Sita Inawae (2016).

In 2013, she founded the Blue Terong Initiative, focusing on documentary film production. In 2018, she positioned as Program Director at the AKATARA Film Financing Forum, and working in Viu in June-December 2019 as Community Program Director.
